It's sing-along time!

Gather 'round the campfire, young'ns...
In other news, Rogue Galaxy is great, but that's not the reason for lack of updates. Just that whole stupid real life thing, and I apologize. I'm hoping to at least post more of these small updates with a video or two much more often, rather than huge link dumps -- which I'm not doing away with, mind you, but they won't be the only type of post you'll see. Stick with me, kids.

Someone screwed up.

Take a look at this screenshot.

I am reading a web comic called "Girls and Sports." On the right side, there is an advertisement for hot women. On the bottom, there is an advertisement for gay men.
"Girls and Sports."
I think someone screwed up the adserve software. 0 comments links to this post

What does the F12 button do?

In case you missed it, Bill Gates himself, chairman of Microsoft, was on the Daily Show. Gates seemed... well... really awkward. It's like he's just not used to this whole "human interaction" thing. Either that or he was expecting Jon Stewart to completely tear him to shreds. One or the other. You be the judge:
He won't be winning any Oscars, that's for certain. But wait! Look what happens just after the interview:
The Daily Show, of course, didn't fail to jump at the opportunity:
There is yet another video of Daily Show's take on what "really" happened after Gates left, but I can't find it anywhere except YouTube, and Viacom has forced YouTube to take down all Comedy Central videos. Hence why all the videos you see above are streaming from Comedy Central themselves. Unfortunately, I can't find that other video even on Comedy Central's webpage, so if anybody happens to know where it is, let me know so I can post it.
Nice one, Viacom. Does the term "free publicity" mean nothing to you?

From the "So what?" department

So there's been a big to-do about the fact that Manhunt 2 was apparently announced for release on the Wii. I file this under "Who cares?"
My reasoning for this is because... well... Manhunt is one of those games that really shouldn't get a fraction of the press it does, but what attention it does get is solely because of its violence. Yes, I realize that people are saying, "But it's on Nintendo's system! Nintendo only releases kid games!" It's really not that big of a deal. Resident Evil 4: quite bloody. Eternal Darkness: gory in its own right. The violence thing has been done on Nintendo before. Yes, Manhunt takes things a bit too far, but it did that on any system it was on. Maybe Manhunt 2 won't be so bad.
Ha!
In any case, if the first game was a good game, then maybe that'd be different. But let me just tell you, I played the first Manhunt game, and guess what?
Pardon my colorful language... inexcusable, I know, but I felt the situation deserved it.
Come to think about it, you can file this whole week in the "Molehill Mountain" folder, considering other things that, while newsworthy for a time, really don't warrant a fraction of the attention they're getting.
Or just really aren't that newsworthy at all.

Conan shows off his Wii (I'm sorry)
# posted by Chronodin @ 4:23 PM
I can't help it... it never gets old! (Or it got old within 5 minutes of knowing the Wii's name... I'm not sure which)
And right here is the spot where I hoped to have video of Conan O'Brien playing Wii Tennis with Serena Williams, but alas, YouTube pulled the video. I'm searching for it elsewhere, though, and upon finding it (It has to be out there somewhere) I'll post it.
And now I... hey, I just found it!
Booyah... eat that, YouTube. NBC Universal apparently doesn't like free publicity. They see their content somewhere, red flag goes up, content goes down. Never mind that it's not going to do anything except maybe make more people watch Late Night with Conan O'Brien. That's all.
In any case, I still love Conan. He remains, unequivocally, the man.
MOVING ON.
Did any of you happen to get Windows Vista? Considering it, y'know, came out this week. Myself, I passed, and I'm in no rush to get the new operating system. You know there will certainly be security holes, as it's a big red target for hackers right now. Maybe sometime down the road once Microsoft does some patching and whatnot it'll be good to jump into, but for the time being, I haven't been shown any reason why it's worth upgrading. Not yet, at least.
If you've missed any of the stories regarding Vista this week, though, The Register has put together a nice little list of all Vista-related stories for you.

- Top 7 Series Run Into the Ground - A couple of these especially many of us still hope for a successful revival.
- Wiibot cuts other Wiimote hacks down to size - Yes, these people have a robot that responds to Wiimote movements. It's still a little basic, but it's pretty darn cool nonetheless.
- Sony advertises Wii game - They've even given up on themselves!
- Wii named official console of Six Flags - A title coveted by all, certainly.
- Report: Original games for Wii Virtual Console - I had a feeling it was coming, and should prove to be a very good thing.
- iPhone trademarks: The real issues - Yes, if you hadn't heard, there's already an "iPhone" out there... made by Cisco, not Apple, and Cisco is suing Apple now for infringing their trademark. This article gives you a good explanation on trademarks and what exactly is either side's argument. Both sides really have legitimate reasoning.
- Firefox 2 config tweaks - If you use Firefox 2, you should give this a read.
- Star Wars in Ascii - It's not completed (I don't think) and apparently it's taken them some 9 years (!?)... but it IS pretty neat.
- Precision driving - Now that's some impressive driving.
- Allen Vizzutti playing Carnival of Venice - If you've never heard of him, Allen Vizzutti is one of the best trumpet players in the world, and this video helps to back up that claim.
- Webopedia - A great resource for computer-related terms and whatnot.
